When reality gets noisy and the pace of life speeds up, silence becomes a treasure. In El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, we’ve understood this need and turned it into the cornerstone of a tourism proposal that embraces calm, landscape, and an inward gaze. This is the spirit of Turisme per a respirar — Tourism to breathing — a concept that adds deep emotional value to traditional travel.

Beyond beaches and guided tours, the municipality offers a different kind of experience: outdoor meditation in spaces where nature, history, and silence go hand in hand. Because meditation is not just a trend — it’s a powerful tool to reconnect with the present.
Meditation in iconic natural settings
This project, driven by the local Tourism Department, offers guided meditations accessible via QR codes placed at five emblematic sites: the Portalet viewpoint, Cala del Moraig, Morro de Roabit, Les Fonts park, and the Abiar wells.
Each audio session — available in Valencian, Spanish, English and French — includes an introduction to the site and a mindfulness practice focused on breathing, bodily awareness, and connection to the surroundings. The idea is simple but profound: arrive, sit down, breathe, and listen.
Benefits for body and mind
Scientific studies have shown the many benefits of meditation: it reduces stress, improves focus, eases anxiety, and supports overall wellbeing. And when practiced in nature, those benefits multiply.
Feeling the fresh air, listening to the birds, letting yourself be rocked by the sound of the waves — all these elements trigger a deep relaxation response and help you regain balance. It’s a form of self-care within reach for every visitor.

An experience for everyone
These meditations are designed to be accessible to everyone — with or without prior experience. No special clothing or equipment is needed. All you need is the intention to give yourself a few calm minutes.
They’re ideal for couples, families, solo travelers, or even as group experiences. Children might discover mindfulness for the first time; adults can take a mental break; and older people may reconnect with both the present moment and cherished memories.
The five locations and their energy

– Portalet Viewpoint: overlooking the Montgó mountain, the sea, and the distant horizon, this is a perfect place to meditate at sunset.

– Cala del Moraig: the power of the waves and the surrounding geological formations awaken your senses and calm inner restlessness.

– Morro de Roabit: majestic silence and a sense of vastness help you release tension on this dramatic cliffside spot.

– Les Fonts Park: green spaces and traditional dry-stone walls offer a balanced place to meditate in nature and history. And if you’re with kids, they can enjoy the play area before or after the session.

– Pous de l’Abiar: cool, shaded, and steeped in ancient agricultural life — a peaceful place to practice gratitude and stillness.
Each location has its own personality and atmosphere, yet all are part of a coherent whole: a meditative journey designed to help you breathe with all five senses.
Explore, choose, breathe
You can explore each meditation spot individually at www.turismeperarespirar.com, where you can also choose your preferred language for the audio session. The site includes practical information on how to get to each location, as well as a directory of local accommodation, restaurants, and active tourism services.
A kind of tourism that cares
Tourism to Breathe doesn’t only benefit the traveler — it also supports the local community. It promotes a respectful and sustainable model of tourism that’s aligned with local values. It encourages year-round visits, avoids overcrowding, and fosters a more mindful relationship with the land.
This project creates both cultural and emotional value. It proposes a new way of traveling: slower, deeper, more human.
Listen. Breathe. Return
Meditating in Benitatxell is not just an activity — it’s an experience. It’s an invitation to return to your body, your breath, and the ground beneath your feet. To step away from crowded places and tune back in with yourself.
When you go home after your trip, you might take back a few souvenirs. But if you’ve joined the Tourism to Breathe experience, you’ll return with something more: an inner experience, a memory of silence, a new way of seeing.
And in a world that never stops rushing — that’s a priceless gift.
